It was scorching in Ogden last week and not just because of the 100-degree temperatures.  The Ogden Twilight concert series brought indie rock breakout sensation Wet Leg to the Ogden City Amphitheater in one of their most ambitious shows yet.

Even with the summer heat hanging over the city fans flocked to the amphitheater, clearly excited about what was perhaps Ogden’s most anticipated concert of the year.  The night featured a triple lineup with Utah based Maz opening and Momma as direct support for Wet Leg.

Maz had the task of opening the evening and getting the fans ready for the night ahead. As fans flowed in, claiming their spots, getting drinks and mingling Maz delivered an energetic set getting the crowd hyped up.

By the time Momma took the stage the amphitheater was nearly full with people still flowing in and squeezing into the crowd.

Momma clearly had fans in the audience with the crowd cheering them on and singing along to songs.  The Brooklyn based rockers fit in perfectly with the Ogden Twilight crowd with their indie 90’s inspired rock sound reverberating throughout the venue and those who weren’t familiar with them took notice.  It was the kind of set that sends people searching for the band when they are done and following them.  If you weren’t a fan of Momma before, you were when they were finished.

Wet Leg has been on a tear lately, going from rising indie rock sensation to playing some of the biggest music festivals in the world, making their appearance in Ogden even more exciting for the fans. Despite the 7000-person capacity of the Ogden Amphitheater, the venue feels more intimate than the other ones in Utah and the sold-out crowd made the atmosphere in the venue feel like a much larger amphitheater packed for a rock show.

From the moment the band took the stage they demanded Ogden’s attention.  What followed was a set full of infectious energy, guitars, and musicianship that has helped propel Wet Leg to the forefront of the music world.

The crowd danced, sang, shouted their adoration to the band and turned the venue into one big sweaty dance party.

For fans in Utah, it was a dream come true.  While festival goers flocked to Lollapalooza, Hinterland and Osheaga in the previous week and had their chance to see Wet Leg, fans in Utah got to stay home and see them, surrounded by the mountains and in the heart of downtown Ogden.

Moments like this are what make the Ogden Twilight shows so special.  Bringing in the hottest acts for the local fans while still keeping that small town intimate feeling.
