September 16, 2025

Fall is here and with it comes the state fair, a time for carnival rides, fried food and the unmistakable buzz of live music filling the state fair grounds. One of the highlights each year is the concert lineup, and this year was no exception. The fair delivered with one of the biggest 90’s alternative acts, Third Eye Blind.
With all things 90’s back in the spotlight, it was the perfect chance to catch one of the era’s defining bands. For many of us who grew up in that era, their songs weren’t just music played on the radio, they were our anthems when coming of age. From “Hows It Going to Be” to “Jumper” their songs captured the restless energy and angst of the generation. Watching these songs being performed live, now with older eyes and a deeper perspective hit a little deeper while still brimming with nostalgia.
The crowd that gathered inside the venue was a mix of fans that lived through the 90’s alternative boom and newer fans discovering the music and keeping it alive. As the two generations stood side by side the air was brimming with excitement and anticipation.
When Stephan Jenkins and company walked out into the stage the crowd cheered their arrival as the show opened with “Thanks A Lot.” For the next 90 minutes the crowd was treated to a set that reminded everyone why they were a driving force of the era and have endured to this day. Jenkins engaged with the crowd welcoming new and old fans alike while promising that new music was on the way.
As the night built towards the finale there buzz grew peaking as the band saved their biggest hits for last. Fans belted out all of the words to “Jumper,” “Semi Charmed Life” and “How’s it Going to Be.”
By the time the lights came on, it was clear that Third Eye Blinds music still had the power to connect fans even across generations. At the state fair where fun and nostalgia collide, this show proved that great songs never die, they continue to take on new life with the passing years.
