The Mars Volta Brings Their Fall Tour to The 713 Music Hall in Houston

The Mars Volta stopped in Houston last night for a show on their Fall Tour, and I was lucky enough to go. I’d seen them live before in 2023, but last night’s performance was so different from the previous one that it’s hard to compare them. Just like before, the music was as good as—if not better than—the studio releases. Everyone onstage had fantastic presence, and the vocals were stunning. They played through their new album, with each song flowing seamlessly into the next. The transitions were so smooth that the entire show almost sounded like one continuous piece. The light design was also excellent, which made the show even more fun to photograph.
Knowing how differently The Mars Volta performs from tour to tour makes me want to see them live whenever I can. The contrast between their shows is fascinating — someone unfamiliar with their music might not even realize it’s the same band that toured in 2023. I already have tickets to see them open for My Chemical Romance in 2026, and I couldn’t be more excited. If their past performances are anything to go by, it’s going to be incredible.
The Mars Volta is currently continuing their Fall Tour with stops across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Maine, Massachusetts, New York, Canada, Kentucky, Michigan, Illinois, Minnesota, Colorado, Idaho, Oregon, Washington, California, and Mexico. If they’re playing anywhere near you, make sure to catch them — no one else puts on a show quite like The Mars Volta.
