Lacey Sturm rocks the Metro Music Hall in Salt Lake City with Intimate concert

July 1, 2025

Rock powerhouse Lacey Sturm brought her solo tour to Metro Music Hall last week, delivering an intense, emotionally raw performance that reminded fans why she remains one of rock’s most dynamic voices.

Sturm, best known as the original frontwoman of Flyleaf, captivated audiences for over a decade before stepping away from the band in 2012. Since then, she’s carved out her own path, becoming the first solo female artist to top the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart with her debut album Life Screams. While she’s recently reunited with Flyleaf, Sturm hasn’t slowed down, continuing to tour and share her deeply personal solo work with fans across the country.

The Salt Lake City setlist featured a powerful blend of solo material and Flyleaf fan favorites. The seamless mix gave longtime fans a taste of the past while showcasing the evolution of Sturm’s artistry. Her live vocals were nothing short of stunning. Few artists match Sturm’s ability to channel vulnerability into power with such precision.

From the opening notes, Sturm performed with her whole being, at times dropping to her knees and curling into herself.  There was no banter-heavy pacing here, just song after song washing over the crowd, with fans connecting deeply to the energy and spirit of each performance.

At the tail end of the set, Sturm paused to share the origin of “All Around Me.” When she asked how many had heard the story behind the song, the crowd was split—half nodding, half curious. Her retelling was vulnerable and brave, touching on her past struggles with depression and a pivotal moment when she nearly took her own life. She described how a chance encounter that day led her to faith and ultimately saved her—an experience that inspired the song. Her honesty was met with quiet reverence from the crowd, a quiet pause before the emotional crescendo to come.

The night ended with “The End of War” performed acoustically, wrapping the evening in a moment of raw beauty. It was a fitting close to a show that was as much a spiritual experience as it was a rock concert.
