Metal and Mayhem: Alice Cooper and Judas Priest Rock The Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater

October 19, 2025

The Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater closed out its summer concert season with a bang last week as two legends, Alice Cooper and Judas Priest brought a night of heavy music, horror theatrics, and pure metal to the stage.  Even the weather seemed to play its part in the production, as what began as a warmish sunny evening transformed into a crisp and cold night as the sun set, releasing a chill through the air, a perfect setting for a fall night with screaming guitars and gothic showmanship.

Opening the evening was southern-metal act Corrosion of Conformity, who wasted no time in firing up the crowd.  Gritty guitar riffs and heavy vocals reminded everyone why they have stayed underground favorites in the genre for decades.  By the time they closed with fan favorites “Albatross” and “Clean My Wounds” the audience was pumping their fists and singing along, ready for what was to come.

Next up, the Godfather of Shock Rock, Alice Cooper, delivered a show tailor made for October.  Turning the amphitheater into a gothic inspired nightmare, complete with skeletons, blood and guillotines.  Behind all the theatrics Cooper and his band remain one of the most polished acts today, delivering a sharp, precision performance blended with nostalgia, professionalism and pure rock horror.

From deep cuts to fan favorites like “Poison” “No More Mr. Nice Guy” and “Feed My Frankenstein” Cooper had the audience singing along with every word captivating everyone with his unmatched charisma and dark humor in only the way he can.  While the props served as the spectacle, make no mistake it was the musicianship and connection to these songs that was the star of the show.  By the time the band closed out with the iconic hit “School’s Out” the audience was giving it their all reliving all of the moments these songs have played a part in their life as the music and nostalgia washed over them.

Then came the Metal Gods themselves.  When Judas Priest walked out onto the stage the crowd started cheering which turned into a deafening roar as Rob Halford strode out clad in leather and steel studs.  Backed by their defining sound Rob Halford proved once again why he’s revered as a voice that defined heavy metal.

With raised fists and commanding vocals, Rob Halford commanded the stage as the band let loose with signature riffs.  The night hit highlight after highlight as thousands of fans screamed the lyrics to “Breaking the Law” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin” echoing throughout the mountainside.

More than five decades into their careers Judas Priest and Alice Cooper showed Utah what true music legends look and sound like, and why their music has continued to connect with fans across the years.

As the show ended and the autumn chill continued to creep in, it felt like the perfect farewell to summer, loud, heavy and unforgettable.
