Last night, I had the privilege of photographing one of my favorite modern bands, Ghost. The performance exceeded all expectations. From the elaborate costumes and striking set design to the electrifying crowd energy, commanding stage presence, and flawless technical execution, every element was outstanding. I had often heard about the reputation of Ghost’s live shows, but experiencing it in person was beyond anything I could have imagined. The performance was captivating from start to finish, leaving me both in awe and thoroughly energized.
Each member of the band made a deliberate effort to connect with the audience, even coming over to the side of the stage where I was seated to interact with our section. I was fortunate to share a few memorable one-on-one moments with the performers, which made the experience all the more special. From my vantage point, I had an exceptionally close view, and the no-phone policy heightened the sense of focus and presence. Altogether, these elements created the most intimate concert experience I’ve ever had.
Tobias Forge, the frontman, had several costume changes that were a thrill to watch. One of the most memorable was during Year Zero, when he appeared in full Papal regalia. The evolving stage design was equally exciting: for much of the show, a stained-glass chapel backdrop set the scene, until it dramatically fell away to reveal vivid imagery of hell. At that moment, pyro effects erupted, heightening the intensity. Even while I was taking notes for my write-up, I found myself completely absorbed in the performance. Ghost delivered their all, making this an unforgettable concert and a spectacular way to close out the first leg of the tour.
