For most musicians headlining a show is enough work for one-night, last weekend Zakk Wylde pulled a double shift.

Fans packed The Union Event Center in Salt Lake City last Saturday March 7th for a rare double dose of Wylde, as he performed double duty playing back-to-back sets with Zakk Sabbath and closing the night out with Black Label Society.

The night kicked off with Dark Chapel kicking things off to a packed venue that showed up early for a night of metal.  Wasting no time in setting the tone for the evening Dark Chapel got the crowd fired up with their heavy riffs and infectious energy.

Next up on the stage was Zakk Sabbath, Wylde’s powerhouse tribute band to Black Sabbath, and from the moment the first riff hit the speakers the crowd roared to life.  Wylde and company tour through the band’s setlist with the same reverence and power that made the songs a staple in the first place.  Massive riffs, and performances punctuated by chants of “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” coming from both the band and the crowd made the performance one to remember.  Watching Wylde on stage fans were blown away and then you realized he was just getting started as the main event was up next.

After a quick rest to set the stage Wylde returned to the stage welcomed back by the roar of a packed venue eagerly waiting for a metal performance to remember.  The band wasted no time unleashing their signature sound of crushing heaviness and legendary guitar work that has defined the band.

Wylde of course was the centerpiece of the night.  His instantly recognizable tone ringing through t e venue.  Watching him perform fed the crowd as fans celebrated seeing a lagend on stage in person.  Fans raised their fists in the air echoing back lyrics, hair was whipping everywhere as fans headbanged along to the band turning the view into a flood of hair and horns held high.

In what could have easily felt like two separate shows, the night instead blurred into one massive celebration of heavy music.  Wylde proved once again why he remains one of metal’s most respected guitarists, both for his playing ability and his passion.  Leading the charge celebrating heavy music and Ozzy all in one night on stage in Salt Lake City.

By the end of the night the crowd hadn’t just seen another concert, they witnessed a marathon performance by one of the best and judging by the reactions of the crowd they loved every minute of it.
