Billy Idol Rocks The Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater
September 9, 2025

Billy Idol may be famous for “Dancing With Myself” but nearly 50 years in the business he doesn’t need to do that alone anymore. The punk rock legend had thousands of people dancing right along with him at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheater this past Friday on his Nice Day to Tour Again stop in Utah.
Kicking off the night was fellow punk rock icon Joan Jett, who wasted no time lighting up the stage with a powerful 15 song set. From classics during her time with The Runaways, to deep cuts and fan favorites, Jett had something for everyone and got the crowd moving early. She closed out her performance with her two anthems “I Hate Myself For Loving You” and “Bad Reputation” turning the amphitheater into a giant dance party and sing-along.
When Idol’s band emerged for their set, they were greeted by cheers which turned into an all-out roar when Idol walked out onto the stage, dripping rock star vibes. Idol opened the show with “Still Dancing” the lead single from his latest album before launching into fan favorite “Cradle of Love” which sent the fans into a frenzy.
A few songs later, longtime guitarist, Steve Stevens, delivered a blistering solo, melting faces as he played away showcasing how integral he is to Idol’s sound. Together they along with the rest of the band tore through a setlist of classics, including “Ready Steady Go” a mashup of "Blue Highway” and the Top Gun theme, and “Rebel Yell.”
The night took on a more touching moment when Idol invited guitarist, Billy Morrison, who is a friend and long-time collaborator of Ozzy Osbourne to say a few words about his friend, the late musician. Morrison remarked, “Well he was The Prince of Darkness” to the cheers of the fans before continuing, “He was so kind, so funny and so talented, and I choose to believe he’s watching over us all,” before asking the fans to make some noise and leading a chant of “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” loud enough to reach Ozzy himself.
Idol wasn’t ready for the show to end after the main set and returned for a four song encore “Dancing With Myself,” “Hot in The City,” “People I love” and the smash hit “White Wedding” which put the exclamation point on the performance.
Throughout the night it was clear that Idol was having the time of his life, smiling, joking and feeding off the energy of the crowd. Nearly five decades into his career Idol reminded everyone why he remains one of rocks most believed forerunners and his continued legacy and relevance today.
