Ashley Cooke Brings the Your Place Tour to The Depot in Salt Lake City

November 1, 2024

Rising Country artist, Ashley Cooke, has had a whirlwind of a year in 2024, between earning her first number one song, “Your Place,” winning her first CMT music award for Female Breakthrough Video of the Year for “Your Place” and picking up her first ACM nomination for New Female Artist of Year.

The promising up and coming artist hasn’t taken her foot off the peddle though, as she headed straight into her Your Place headlining tour to close the year out.  This past Friday, October 25th, saw Cooke make a stop at The Depot in downtown Salt Lake City for an energetic night, showcasing her heartfelt lyrics that have propelled her into the spotlight this year.

Just a few blocks over from the Depot the Utah Jazz were getting ready to take to the court but here in The Depot there was just as much energy and anticipation leading up to her show.  When Cooke took the stage the fans that made up the nearly sold-out show let out a holler giving Cooke a huge Utah welcome.

Cooke opened the show with her song “Getting Into” with the fans singing the song right back to her.  In fact, one of the first things I noticed that stood out this evening was that almost every song Cooke sang the fans already knew the lyrics too and would sing it back to her.  That shows how strong of a connection Cooke has built with her fans that a relatively new artist can play songs not released as singles with the crowd already knowing every word.  When Cooke moved into the acoustic part of her show, sitting on a couch on the stage with her guitar player playing “26” is when I knew I was watching something special. The connection that the songstress had with her fans in that moment was evident.  After the show, several fans I had the chance to speak with said that song was one of their favorites of the night with many of them having heard it on her TikTok already.

Cooke closed out the night listening to stories from the audience of their breakups before relating hers and what led to her number one single before giving a performance of “Your Place” that cemented itself as one of my favorite live performances I have seen.

The connection between Ashley Cooke and the audience showed perfectly how an artist being true to themselves and writing from the heart will forge a connection with their fans.  Many of the people leaving after the concert expressed how they couldn’t wait for Cooke to come back saying they will be at every one of her shows when she comes to Utah.  It’s clear that Cooke has a bright future ahead of her and we can’t wait to see where her journey takes her.
